The exact definition paper weight gets a little complicated, but for most people it only a matters as an indicator of paper thickness. The higher the paper weight, the thicker the paper. The thicker the paper, the stiffer and more durable it will be.
Mohawk Copier Gloss Cover Paper MOW36213 is a good choice for your postcards. It's 100 lb. cover stock, so it's durable enough to survive the rough handling inevitable in mailing. (For contrast, the basic copy and print paper used in most homes and offices is 20 lbs.)
We also offer a number of printable postcards made specifically for DIY postcards, including Avery Photo-Quality Glossy Postcards. Thanks to the perforated sheets, you don't have to measure and cut the sheets down to postcard size. Plus, you can easily print custom designs, text and address with the free software from Avery.
