Hi Mike,
Thank you for your great question about Endust® Professional Cleaning and Dusting Spray.
Endust® is made with oil, so you shouldn't apply it before staining. Stains and paints will not properly adhere.
You can use a small amount of pure mineral spirits or paint thinner to clean your desks between coats with most wood finishes. A little on a rag or cloth goes a long way. However, I recommend you contact the manufacturer of your finish first, just to be on the safe side.
