Thank you for your question about the AbilityOne™ SKILCRAFT Heavy-Duty Chair Mat for Plush to High Pile Carpets. This chair mat has a limited lifetime warranty against cracks and breaks.
It is extra thick for use on plush and high pile carpets. It won't bend or sink into deep carpets. We also offer other quality chair mats for plush and high pile carpets, several at lower price points. You can shop all our plush pile chair mats here.
If you don't have a deep pile carpet, you don't need a such a heavy duty chair mat.

Chair mats for low and medium pile carpets typically cost much less than the mats for plush carpets. Not sure how thick your carpet is?
 | Straighten the end of a paper clip, then sink it into the carpet, through the backing, until it reaches the floor. |
 | Grab the paper clip at the point where it's flush with the carpet. (Be sure you're not matting down the carpet with your hand.) Measure the distance between your fingers and the end of the paper clip. That's the carpet's thickness. |
