Thank you for your question about the LC Industries Refill Pencil Leads.
These are B pencil leads, with medium hardness and darkness. B pencil leads are a bit darker and softer than standard #2 (aka HB) pencils, but lighter and harder than 6B pencils. This chart from Wikipedia illustrates the difference.
The differences in color and hardness are due to varying amounts of clay in leads. The more clay, the lighter and harder the lead.
LC Industries B lead's medium softness offer a smooth writing experience, while the darker color ensures bold, easy to read marks. Plus, they last longer than softer leads because they don't wear down as quickly.
