Hi Felicia,
Thank you for your question about Martin Yale Paper Folders.
We carry two Martin Yale Paper Folders that make baronial folds: the 1711 and the 1217A.
The 1711 model allows you to set the fold style electronically with just a push of a button. This improves ease of use, as well as the crispness and consistency of the folds. The 1217A is set manually. This leads to somewhat less crisp results, though you can manually tweak the adjustments for more precise folds.
However, there are a few other factors to consider when choosing a paper folder:
- What is the largest size paper you'll be folding?
1217A Maximum Paper Size: 12" x 18"
1711 Maximum Paper Size: 8-1/2"x 14"
If you need to fold oversize documents, the 1217A is the better choice, even without the electronic controls. - Will you need to fold heavyweight paper?
1217A Maximum Paper Weight: 120 lb. Index Card Stock
1711 Maximum Paper Weight: 70 lb. Card Stock
Both folders do a great job of folding standard office paper and card stock (minimum 16 lb. bond paper). - How many documents will you fold in a week?
1217A: 250 page tray capacity; 10,000 folds per week
1711: 150 page tray capacity; 5,000 folds per week
The 1217A can handle twice the volume of the 1711 without wearing out. It is the best choice if you regularly fold more than 5,000 documents a week.
The 1711 paper folder is ideal for mail rooms, large associations and offices because the electronic controls don't require any manual adjustments, so users can work on other projects during the run. Plus, they are only folding letter and legal size documents printed on standard office paper and stationery. The 1217A paper folder also performs admirably in business settings, but churches really love it because one user can fold thousands of paper programs and bulletins printed on index card stock.
Hope this answers your question!
Best,
Frankye
