The info on these folders said you can write/re-write on the tab, but I can't get any writing implement other than Ready-Tab Reinforced File Folders, 1/3-Cut Tabs: Assorted, Letter Size, Assorted Colors, 50/Pack File Folders

The info on these folders said you can write/re-write on the tab, but I can't get any writing implement other than a permanent marker to actually write on the tab. what do you suggest?

Hi Meryl,

Thank you for your question about Pendaflex Ready-Tab File Folders.

The tabs of these folders are made from poly laminate, i.e. plastic. They work best with markers, which you've discovered through trial and error. They're not really designed for erasing, or for pencil or pen ink marks.

You might try an erasable marker, such as EXPO® Vis-à-Vis® Wet Erase Marker. The ink is formulated to wipe away clean with just a damp cloth, so you can "erase" the tabs without damaging the folders. I've linked the fine point black marker set, but they are available in a range of colors, tip sizes and quanitities.
