Hi Kent,
Thank you for your question about TOPS Quadrille Pads.
This product uses standard graph paper. Each box looks exactly the same, so the lines are not darker around the 1" 4x4 sections.
However, TOPS Section Pads TOP35041 do use darker lines around the 4x4 sections.
