Thank you for your question about OLD ENGLISH Furniture Polish. This product is not recommended for veneer surfaces - only wood surfaces.
Here are some do's and don'ts for veneer products:
Do's
- Daily care: wipe surface with a damp (not wet) towel or cloth and then wipe dry with lint-free cotton cloth.
- Clean surfaces with a product like Windex which will not harm the finish and doesn't leave a residue. Just like with daily care be sure to wipe dry with a lint-free cotton cloth.
- You can use a mild soap like Murphy's Oil Soap on a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and dirt. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for diluting and then dry with a lint-free cotton cloth.
- Use a high-quality liquid polish such as Guardsman Furniture Polish.
- Always wipe and polish with the grain of the wood.
- Avoid wax-based polishes like Pledge and Endust because the wax in silicone in these products can build-up on the surface and cause a "cloudy" appearance.
- Avoid cleaners that contain oils or are ammonia based.
- Don't wipe against the grain of the wood.
