This scale measure weight only and does not calculate shipping. You can measure the weight of your envelope or package and use the chart of the USPS website to calculate shipping rates for envelopes or use the shipping calculator function for bulkier items.
Machines that have the ability to calculate shipping are made with a postal rate chip that has the pro of converting weight to postage due but the con of having to be replaced each time the postal rate changes. The cost of a replacement chip is close to the cost of a new scale.
