Thanks for your question. Here is how to change the lead in the Paper Mate® PhD Multi 3-in-1 Pen/Pencil.
1. Unscrew the pen/pencil in the middle of the shaft.
2. Remove the inner white tube from the metal tube within the shaft.
3. Drop the lead refill into the metal tube.
4. Push the white tube back into the metal tube.
5. Replace pen shaft and screw it back together.
