Your new chairmat has been rolled to allow economical and timely delivery. When vinyl chairmats are rolled however, they take on a “memory” of that rolled shape and may be difficult to unroll when cold. The following precautions will protect your chairmat from cracking while enabling you to put it to use as soon as possible:
- Allow the rolled chairmat to warm up thoroughly to at least room temperature
- After the chairmat has warmed up, carefully unroll the chairmat and place it on the floor with the “bow” up, adding weight to hold the chairmat in place if necessary
- The chairmat should gradually flatten over a period of a few hours (thicker chairmats could take longer)
Vinyl becomes more pliable with heat, so the warmer the chairmat, the quicker it will lay flat. Try placing the chairmat in a warm room or near a sunny window for best results.
