Thank you very much for your note. The hutch does not have an opening for attaching a light underneath the top of this hutch. The opening is between the back of the pannel and the desk, and not in the back of the wood section/fabric panel. Also, this unit does not include a light with this unit.
The reson they do not have a opening/electrical hole that goes through the back of the panel is because it has a fully finished back panel for privacy. Some people use this as a free standing unit, which would not go against a wall.
